Well, I was doing a little handicapping for the Windstar Stablemates Breeders’ Cup Contest, so I figured I could add my picks to the post here. I’m glad to see the Breeders’ Cup somewhere other than California this year. Kinda disappointed at a few of the scratches, I really wanted to see beholder beat American Pharoah. So here’s a few Breeders’ Cup picks from Cornelio.
Race 6: Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf
- Legatissimo – gotta watch this Europeans when they come to America, especially for the Breeder’s Cup, Winner of last 2, 3 2-1-0 at distance
- Stephanie’s Kitten – always seems to disappoint me, wonder if she can beat the Europeans, won last race, 6 2-3-0 at distance, cat horse
- Miss France – another European, a bunch of second places, might be good for third
Race 7: Breeders’ Cup Sprint
- Private Zone – Winner of 3 out of 5 this year, won last 2, plenty of experience at distance
- Run happy – coming off 4 straight wins, 2-2 at distance
- Wild Dude – plenty of speed, won last race, 6 4-0-2 at distance
- Just Missed – Salutos Amigos
Race 8: Breeders’ Cup Mile
- Esoterique – watch out for those Europeans, winner of last 2 followed by 2 seconds, 12 4-2-1 at distance
- Tepin – Leparoux the Turf specialist, 6 4-2-0 this year, 4 3-1-0 at distance, should do well
- Time Test – winner of 3 of last 4, all this year, 1-1 at distance
Race 9: Breeders’ Cup Juvenile
- Brody’s Cause – Winner of last 2, 1-1 at distance, hot jockey trainer combo, won at Keenland
- Nyquist – 4/4 undefeated, 1-1 at distance
- Greenpointcrusader – won last 2, would have been 3, but by a neck, increasing speed figs
Race 10: Breeders’ Cup Turf
- Golden Horn – coming from overseas, sports a lifetime 8 -7-1-0 record, should do well
- The Pizza Man – this horse is on a roll, 6 2-0-2 at distance, might be a bit long for him
- Twilight Eclipse – hot jockey, consistent speed figs, experience at distance, should compete
Race 11: Breeder’s Cup Classic
- Tonalist – Hoping that Tonalist and Javier can get this done, coming off a win, 5 2-1-0 at distance
- American Pharoah – great horse, but beaten once, not sure if he will return to former glory, great winning record, will depend on the break
- Honor Code – has the speed to make this happen, good jockey trainer combo, never gone the distance though
- I really thought Beholder could have beaten Pharoah in this race.
Should be an exciting weekend of racing, going to try and not lose too much money 🙂
Enjoy the off season folks!
