We’ve got an early race for you this weekend as I tossed in the Kitten’s Joy Appleton Stakes at 1:57PM EST into this week’s Pick 6 Challenge. Let’s have a look at the races this week.
Race 1: Kitten’s Joy Appleton Stakes (G3)
- Frostmournce – lightly raced over the last year and a half, speed looks to be there, winner of 4/7 at distance, workouts are reasonable, graded stakes experience.
- Ever Dangerous – high speed figs last 2 races, 2 wins in last 3 starts, sire is Kitten’s Joy.
- Renaisance Frolic – speed looks to be there, winner of last race, high percentage trainer and jockey, wins at distance, wins at track, working out well.
Race 2: Pan American Stakes (G2)
- Temple – high percentage trainer and jockey, good race in G3 WL McKnight, graded stakes experience, avg workouts, seems to like longer distance though.
- Cross Border – high percentage trainer and jockey, great workouts, hit the board in last 3 starts including Pegasus World Cup, well raced in 2020.
- Sadler’s Joy – I want to believe he can win it, but it will be a tough ask, winless last year, still seems to have some speed in the tank, matches up well against competitors.
Race 3: Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2)
- Crazy Beautiful – graded stakes experience, raced well in Davona Dale, experience at track and distance, coming off a 5 2-2-0 2020 season.
- Millefeuille – confused at the poor race in Davona Dale, but I am hoping Bill Mott has got this horse figured out, working out well, changed jockey.
- Con Lima – hard to bet against Pletcher and Ortiz, high percentage jockey and trainer, rail post, horse has finished first or second in every race, poor recent workouts, hasn’t gone the distance.
- Just Missed – Bow Bow Girl – speed trending upward, winner of last race, experience at distance and at track.
Race 4: Orchid Stakes (G3)
- Always Shopping – coming off 2 wins, graded stakes experience, high percentage jockey and trainer, has the speed, good workouts, finished first or second in last 4 starts.
- Delta’s Kingdom – has experience around the race distance, hit the board last 5 starts, but no wins, high percentage trainer, good speed figs.
- Sorrel – long distance wins in last 3 races, high percentage jockey and trainer, working out well, not underestimating a shipper.
Race 5: Jeff Ruby Steaks (G3)
- Hush of a Storm – 3 wins in a row, all at Turfway, high percentage trainer, good speed figs, good workouts.
- Tarantino – experience in graded stakes, well raced in Holy Bull and Fountain of Youth, working out well, good speed figs.
- Gretzky the Great – graded stakes experience, high percentage jockey and trainer, working out well, experience with all weather track – winner of 3/4 at Woodbine.
Race 6: Florida Derby (G1)
- Greatest Honour – winner of last 3, high percentage trainer, working well, undefeated in 2021, prime speed figs.
- Spielberg – Baffert’s challenger, ran 2nd in last race, graded stakes experience, working out well, high percentage jockey.
- Known Agenda – high percentage jockey and trainer, winner of last race, 2-0-1 at distance, win at Gulfstream, returning to graded stakes action.
Should be a great day of racing, watch out for that early lock time in the Kitten’s Joy. Play the Pick 6 Challenge for fun! http://games.scaredycatfilms.com/pick6/
