Royal Delta Stakes, March 21st

Maple Forest

This week we have the Spiral Stakes, and a couple of large fields to chose from.  Cornelio can’t handicap them all, but he can give you some ideas.  The first two races are from Gulfstream Park, and both have 7 horse fields.

Race 1: The Inside Information Stakes.
In the Inside Information Stakes, Merry meadow is the favorite, having won her last 3 races, all at Gulfstream.  Sweet Whiskey will give her a run, and Classic Point has won her last 2 and is working bullets.

Race 2: The Royal Delta.
At the Royal Delta, Sheer Drama has improved under her last 2 rides with Joe Bravo, House Rules will be a favorite with Javier, winner of her last 2 and really fast.  Molly Morgan is fast too, but has a tough outside post.

Race 3: The Bourbonette Oaks.
To Turfway for the Bourbonette Oaks, Cornelio likes the kitten horses, but I don’t know if Walking the Kitten or Right on Kitten has anything to show today.  Don’t Leave Me won her first two, but didn’t have much last time out in her first graded stakes.  Harlan’s Destiny has won her last 4, Sweet Success won by a neck last time out, looks fast, and has Rosario on top.  Sharla Rae has won every other race she’s been in 4 for 8, but winning last time out, is she due for a disappointment?

Race 4: The Gazebo Stakes.
Race 4 is at Oaklawn for the Gazebo Stakes.  Subtle Indian is undefeated, but only raced twice, he’s got the inside post.  Cinco Charlie love’s to lead and wins a lot, he’ll take money today.  Bayerd hasn’t been running well lately, but has shown promise in the past, can Ramon Vazquez get him to the winners circle?

Race 5: The Spiral Stakes.
In the Spiral, Cornelio likes Royal Son on the inside, the Winstar entry won his last time out, but did poorly in his only graded stakes race.  Imperia has Rosario on top today and could be worth a flier.  I like Conquest Typhoon with legendary Mike Smith, and Metaboss has two firsts and a second in his last 3.

Race 6: The San Luis Rey Stakes.
The last race of the day takes us out West to Santa Anita for the San Luis Rey Stakes.  A 9 horse field, Finnegan’s Wake will be tough, winner of his last 3, and Ashleylovessugar has a tough outside post to overcome.  Joes Blazing Aaron has had a multitude of trainers, could this new one be the right one?

Good luck to everyone, we are past the half way point in the Derby Championship series, and the Kentucky Derby is just around the corner.
