The Belmont Stakes, June 6th

Hey Everybody, it’s Belmont Stakes Day, and we have another Triple Crown Contender!  Hope everybody watches today, and maybe we’ll see some history.  Here’s a quick wrap up of today’s Pick 6 Challenge races from Cornelio.

Race 1: Brooklyn Invitational.
Race one is the 6th race from Belmont. Repole Stables seems to have the New York tracks kinda figured out, and Cornelio usually won’t stay away from a coupled entry.  Red Rifle and Sky Kingdom had great races last time out, but were they a fluke?  V.E. Day, never the same since going on a run, literally, and winning the Travers.  Effinex will be strong, and most likely the favorite.

Race 2: The Acorn Stakes.
Bar of Gold is undefeated, but moves up in class.  Curalina, winner of her last two gets Johnny V (always dangerous) and also moves up in class.  Honestly, this looks like a race between horses 7, 8, and 9.  Condo Commando was killing it until a bad Oaks day race.  Shook Up has a lot of runner up finishes, but looked good in the Oaks.  And Promise Me Silver, 8 for 8 lifetime, most against lower class foes, and not this distance.  Throw Miss Ella into the undefeated as well, and Danzatrice is peaking at the right time for this one.  Excitement all over this race!

Race 3: The Just A Game Stakes.
Every time I bet Sandiva she disappoints me, but maybe today is the day.  Discreet Marq and Coffee Clique seem to show up on the Pick 6 a lot, don’t they? Ball Dancing and Tepin should be a factor, as outside post won’t matter as much on the turf mile.  Filimbi doesn’t seem to be quite the horse she was in 2014.

Race 4: The Metropolitan Handicap
This looks like a good one.  Private Zone sometimes can’t seem to get it done in the big races, but I like him today.  Tonalist has great history at Belmont, but will the horse remember?  Seems like he will take a lot of money, won’t be a good betting price.  I don’t trust Bayern, he throws in a stinker every time you decide he’s turned the corner.  I like Wicked Strong every time he goes out, he will be a threat.  Pants on Fire is a more sentimental pick of mine, he’s a good horse, but maybe only useful in exotics.  Honor Code ran well 2 races ago, but that was March and November, Javier Castellano on top, could be interesting.  If Javier is on a winning streak today, bet him.

Race 5: The Manhattan.
Will the Manhattan be televised by those dummies at NBC?  Or will they air a fluff peace about the triple crown fashion, we’ll see, but I bet you they skip at least one race in their broadcast today.  Finnegans Wake seems to be training and running well this year, don’t leave him out.  I like Twilight Eclipse as well.  Hoping Big Blue Kitten can turn it around, I can definitely see Jersey Joe and that wry smile in the winners circle today.  Which takes us to the Belmont Stakes.

Race 6: The Belmont Stakes.
I loved Materiality and Frosted in the Derby, and I like them here today, well rested.  Madefromlucky was another favorite of mine, and he didn’t do the derby, opting instead for the Peter Pan, at, you guessed it, Belmont.  Interesting!  It is going to be tough for American Pharoah to beat those three, but if anyone has a shot, its him.  Good luck Pharoah.

Have a great weekend everyone, and good luck!
