The biggest race of the year so far was last weekend, the Belmont Stakes, but the racing continues, and we’ve got 6 more races in the Pick 6 Challenge on today’s schedule. We couldn’t get them all scheduled, so be sure to tune in for the Fleur de Lis stakes from Churchill at 5:15pm, to see Midnight Bisou’s US debut and can Serengeti Empress get back on track?
No on to the races in today’s challenge.
Race 1: Ohio Derby (G3)
- Storm the Court – hard not to like last year’s BC Juevenile winner, can he turn 2020 around? Good speed, working out well
- Rowdy Yates – coming off a 4th in Saudi Arabia, definitely has raced with higher class horses, how will Ohio feel?
- Lebda – Bullet workouts, coming off 2 wins
Race 2: New York Stakes (G2)
- Call Me Love – lifetime hit the board, fast, working well, like those foreign horses on the turf, high jockey / trainer win percentage
- Mean Mary – 3 wins in a row, 2 for 2 in 2020, speed, high percentage jockey / trainer.
- Mrs. Sippy – dropped to third since she hasn’t raced in 2020, but could end up being strongest in the field.
- Just Missed – Fools Gold – dropping in distance, Chad Brown trained, could be a good price?
- Of note – My Sister Nat – closed from 10th to 2nd by a neck! in last race (November though)
Race 3: True North Stakes (G2)
- Promises Fulfilled – making 2020 debut, working out well, high percentage trainer, goes to the front
- Firenze Fire – has he lost a step? Has the speed, dropping distance (barely), gets Irad Oritz back, sharp May workouts, looks like 2 horse race
- Diamond King – dropping way back in distance, working out well, rail winning at 19%
Race 4: Stephen Foster Stakes (G2)
- Tom’s d’Etat – winner of last 3, winner of 5/8 at distance, 3rd last year, experience at course
- By My Standards – Oaklawn HC winner, 3/3 at distance, working out very well
- Owendale – high percentage trainer, working well, winner of last race, 2/3 wins at distance
Race 5: Just a Games Stakes (G1)
- Uni – high percentage trainer, winner of 7/8 at distance! returning after winning BC Turf Mile, making 2020 debut
- Newspaperofrecord – coming off big win, high percentage jockey and trainer
- Got Stormy – been a while since besting Uni in the 4 Star Dave, working well, high percentage trainer and jockey, dropping distance
Race 6: Regret Stakes (G3)
- Crystal Cliffs – coming off 2 wins, high percentage jockey and trainer, moving up in class though
- Dominga – high percentage jockey and trainer, working out well
- Pass the Plate – second and two thirds this year, hit the board in all 5 turf races, Leparoux on the turf!, working ok
There you go, put your picks up against the rest of us at the Pick 6 Challenge.
