Keeneland Meet Starts, Blue Grass Stakes, July 11th

Forever Together

Last day of racing for the Belmont summer meet. I didn’t put the Ruffian in here, as there are onyl 5 entries, and I have a feeling Monomoy Girl is going to kill it! We’ve got 5 races from Keeneland up this weekend capped off with the Blue Grass Stakes. Hope you are all having a great summer. let’s get to it!

Race 1: Madison Stakes (G1)

  • Sally’s Curlin – won last race, at distance with PRADO! Won it driving, maybe she found her distance
  • Wildwood’s Beauty – 7 3-4-0 at distance, lots of experience this distance, first or second in 13 of 14 races, working out well
  • Guarana – winner at Keeneland, winner at distance, moving up in class
  • Just Missed – Bell’s the One – won last race, driving, working out well

Race 2: Shakertown Stakes (G2)

  • Bound for Nowhere – 4 2-2-0 at distamce, fast speed, working well, lost by a neck last race
  • Extravagant Kid – won last race with Rosario, specializes in turf sprints
  • Wildman Jack – won last race, experience at distance, can’t count out Mike Smith

Race 3: Ashland Stakes (G1)

  • Venetian Harbor – definitely looks like this is her spot, highest speed, two firsts and two seconds.
  • Speech – lots of second place finishes, but lost by a neck to Gamine to races ago! I suspect that’s why she’s the second choice here. Working bullets, experience at distance, but just one win
  • Envoutante – the speed this horse puts up, working out well, coming off a win, two wins at distance.

Race 4: Delaware Handicap (G1)

  • Dunbar Road – has the speed, winner of last race, moving back up to graded stakes, working out ok
  • Bellera – switching to high percentage jockey, throw out last race on turf, hopeful for return to form
  • Lucky Move – coming off a win, working out well, won last race at delaware with jockey Rosado

Race 5: Coolmore Jenny Wiley Stakes (G1)

  • Rushing Fall – won last race, winner of 3/4 at distance, winner of 9 of 12, keeps jockey Castellano, Chad Brown trained
  • Jolie Olimpica – winner last race, Mike Smith onboard, winner of 5/6 lifetime, can she stretch the distance?
  • Toinette – winner of last race, 2/2 at distance, drew away at 1 mile, familiar jockey

Race 6: Blue Grass Stakes (G2)

  • Swiss Skydiver – this could be a route if Mike Smith takes off today, winner of last 3, the Filly! Hot trainer, great jockey, has won handily, may not mind increase in distance?
  • Art Collector – winner of last 3, working out well, high percentage jockey, moving up in class
  • Rushie – 3rd last race against Honor AP and Authentic, Santa Anita Derby, working out well

Lots of interesting racing Saturday, good luck everyone, play the Pick 6 Challenge, have a great weekend.
