Some lean weeks here with the Kentucky Derby 3 weeks away. We’ve got a few races from the states, and a few races from Woodbine. The grade 1 Alabama is our feature race of the day, lets get to it!

Race 1: Dance Smartly Stakes (G2)

• Elizabeth Way – won last race at woodbine, showing some good speed, 3 wins in 2020, should do well
• Romantic Pursuit – wps in 3 races at distance, hit the board in all 3 races of 2020, dropping distance, may be her thing
• Etoile – overseas horses are tough, giving her the benefit of the doubt, no wins at distance, awful race at Santa Anita as favorite, working out well though?

Race 2: Bold Venture Stakes (G2)

• Pink Lloyd – Why did I even put this race in here?!?!? winner of 3 at distance, winner of 24/30 at Woodbine, winner of last 3, high percentage jockey, best speed of all others, working bullets, only race lost in the last 2 years was the 2019 Bold Venture… hmmm…
• White Flag – hasn’t won since 2018, never raced distance, closest horse in speed figs
• Olympic Runner? – your funeral, I think Pink Lloyd has this

Race 3: Saratoga Derby Invitational Stakes

• Decorated Invader – winner of 5/7 lifetime, and 2/3 at Saratoga, winner of last 3 starts, working bullets, last race won was Saratoga Hall of Fame
• Colonel Liam – I saw Liam’s Map win at Saratoga, so I believe this horse may have a chance if anyone does, winner of last race at Saratoga, working bullets, high trainer win percentage
• Gufo – winner of last 4, 4/5 on turf, high percentage trainer, wouldn’t count him out

Race 4: Pegasus Stakes

• Pneumatic – never underestimate Jersey Joe, drops in class after 4th at Belmont, hot jockey trainer, has had a break
• Jesus’s Team – some good speed, high percentage jockey, has raced Monmouth, but lost in Haskell, concerning that weakened in last two long races
• As Seen On TV – working out well, dropping in class, but so are many others, hasn’t raced well since November 2019, could this be the spot?
• Just Missed – Arkaan – looking for a homer? moving way up in class against field dropping in class, never gone close to the distance, undefeated in 2 starts

Race 5: King Edward Stakes (G2)

• Silent Poet – another Pink Lloyd here? winner of 7/11 at Woodbine, winner of last 2, 2/4 at distance, working bullets, high percentage jockey/trainer, will move out front
• Mr Ritz – another Woodbine specialist it seems, winner of 1/2 at distance, high percentage trainer, won last race, hit the board in both starts 2020
• March to the Arch – rough record at distance: 1/8, hasn’t won since Jan 2018, good turf horse, maybe a return to glory?

Race 6: Alabama Stakes (G1)

• Swiss Skydiver – just missed in the Blue Grass, I think she will do well here, fantastic speed, second last race after 3 firsts, high percentage trainer
• Spice Is Nice – moving up in class, won last race, high percentage jockey/trainer, working well
• Crystall Ball – ran second at Saratoga last race, has some good speed figs, high percentage trainer/jockey, working out well
• Just Missed – Harvey’s Lil Goil – I bailed on her in the Regret, and I regretted it, people are high on her, but I don’t really see it, don’t count her out though

There you have it, 6 interesting races, will you risk one pick for some of the favorites? I don’t know, there are always contenders, and nothing is a sure thing. Good luck everyone.
