A light slate of races again this week, had to toss out the Charles Whittingham Stakes as it only had 4 entries and I was looking for a larger field. We’ve got races from Belmont, Churchill Downs, and Santa Anita up for this weekend.

Race 1: Shawnee Stakes

• Envoutante – Looks to be the class of this field, dropping in class, highest speed figs, winner of 3/6 at distance, working out well, won 2/3 at Churchill Downs.
• Miss Bigly – winner of last 2 races, winner of 2/3 at distance, has won at Churchill Downs, moving up in class, hasn’t raced this distance in a while.
• Paris Lights – has graded stakes experience, dropping in class, high percentage jockey, 2/3 wins at track and at distance, soundly beaten in La Troienne last race.

Race 2: Regret Stakes (G3)

• Spanish Loveaffair – Had some good races in 2020, but 2021 is not looking so well, have they got her figured out? High percentage jockey, ok workouts.
• Gam’s Mission – Winner of last 2, decent speed figs, moving up in class, winner at Churchill Downs, making the next step?
• Flown – Second last race, high percentage trainer/jockey, avg seed, avg workouts, build on last start?

Race 3: Matt Winn Stakes (G3)

• O Besos – Couple of TC contenders facing off here, rising speed figs, good showing in Derby, more distance experience.
• Helium – Empty in the stretch, winner of last 3 before Derby, good jockey/trainer win percentages, working ok.
• Fulsome – Winner of last 2, and 3 of last 4, moving up in class, high percentage trainer and jockey, working out well, winner at distance.

Race 4: Pennine Ridge Stakes (G2)

• Hard Love – Winner of 2/3, all on turf, good turf speed, good workouts.
• Public Sector – Second last race, raced poorly in BC Juvenile, high percentage jockey/trainer, second on Belmont turf twice.
• Shaftesbury – High percentage jockey, won last race, 3 second place finishes, winner at Belmont, turf experience, moving up in class though.

Race 5: Daytona Stakes (G3)

• Law Abidin Citizen – Hasn’t raced since last year, but highest speed figs, high percentage trainer, winner of 4/7 at distance, working out well, dropping in distance.
• Bombard – Lost when dropping class in allowance, good speed figs, working out well, high percentage jockey/trainer, may benefit from smaller field.
• Majestic Eagle – On memorial day weekend? Let’s do it! Graded stakes experience, dropping in distance, hasn’t raced yet this year.

Race 6: Triple Bend Stakes (G2)

• Lambeau – Winner last race, front running style, winner at track, good workouts, moving up in class.
• Magic On Tap – Working bullets, lots of them, high percentage trainer, dropping in distance, may return to form?
• Eight Rings – Hasn’t raced since last year, poor last races, switching to high percentage jockey, high percentage trainer, bullet workout, might be ready?
