We are back with the 2021 version of the Summer Spectacular. I expect the segment will run through the end of the Saratoga meet, ending the first weekend of September. There will be a lot of great races this segment, and some weekends off for a vacation for Cornelio. Let’s see what races we have for the first week.

Race 1: Kent Stakes (G3)

• Yes This Time – Winner of last 4, 5/7 lifetime, and 5/6 on turf. Moving up in class, has raced close to distance.
• Like the King – Tough to ignore a Kentucky Derby horse, winner of Jack Ruby Steaks, has turf experience, has gone distance, who will jockey be?
• Gershwin – Has hit the board in all 3 starts, winner last race in Pennsylvania Mile, hot jockey, working bullets, many horses in this field have never raced turf before, maybe this is the best of the rest?

Race 2: Delaware Oaks (G3)

• Crazy Beautiful – Winner last race, winner of 2/4 at distance, quality jockey, high speed figs, lots of graded stakes experience.
• Midnight Obsession – Winner at distance, winner 2/3 lifetime, hot jockey, moving up in class, beaten last race.
• Leader of the Band – Rising speed figs, hit the board in all 5 starts, winner last race, moving up in class, hasn’t raced distance.

Race 3: Smile Sprint Invitational (G3)

• Diamond Oops – Winner last race, high speed figs, winner of 4/7 at distance, winner 6/10 at Gulfstream, working bullets, graded stakes experience.
• Chance It – Very high speed figs, high percentage trainer, 7 4-3-0 record at Gulfstream, 33% beaten favorite, lost last race in a drop in class, beaten favorite, concerning.
• Miles Ahead – Consistent high speed figs, first or second last 4 races, wins almost half races at Gulfstream, winner 4/6 at distance, high percentage jockey.

Race 4: Perfect Sting Stakes

• Viadera – Winner of last 3, winner of 5/5 at distance, high percentage trainer, high speed figs, graded stakes experience, 28% win percentage 90+ days away, 28% winner last race.
• Princess Grace – 3 wins in 4 starts, 2 wins at distance, working bullets, graded stakes winner, 5th different jockey, hasn’t raced Belmont.
• Piedi Bianchi – Has performed well against tough fields, dropping in class, ran second last race, experience at distance and track, high percentage jockey.

Race 5: Princes Rooney Invitational (G2)

• Estilo Talentoso – Winner last race with highest speed fig, has hit the board in every start at Gulfstream, winner at distance, high percentage jockey, working bullets, hit the board in all 14 lifetime starts, graded stakes experience.
• Ce Ce – Dropping in distance, has won 1/2 at distance, graded stakes experience, working out very well, may prevail against weaker competition?
• Thisismytime – Has shown some speed in recent starts, winner of 2 before second in the Inside Information G2, 3 1-2-0 at distance, 7 3-2-1 at Gulfstream, decent jockey/trainer win percentage, hasn’t raced since January.

Race 6: Suburban Stakes (G2)

• Happy Saver – Winner of all 5 starts, winner at Belmont, winner at distance, high percentage jockey/trainer, Ortiz ran 4/5 starts. graded stakes winner, working bullets.
• Mystic Guide – Coming off win in Dubai, winner at distance, high speed figs, working out bullets, graded stakes winner, second in Jockey Club Gold to Happy Saver, Jim Dandy winner.
• Moretti – High percentage jockey/trainer, working out well, experience at distance and track, finished 3rd last start, but winner of 3/4 before that.
