After a two week hiatus we are back with the Pick 6 Challenge for 6 races this weekend at Arlington park and Saratoga.
Race 1: Pucker Up Stakes (G3)
- Flown – 3rd in the Regret and 5th in Appalachian Stakes races, 4 of last 5 races greater than 1 mile on turf, finished in the money 6/7 lifetime, good speed figs.
- Shesa Mystery – Winner of 2 before second in Iowa Oaks, high speed figs, working out well, risky as hasn’t raced turf before.
- Oyster Box – Good speed figs, working out well, lurking in 4th last two races, knocking on the door of stakes finish in the money, gaining on Flown last race.
- Just Missed – Shantisara – shipper with multiple overseas wins, second in only stateside start, Chad Brown trained.
Race 2: Saratoga Special Stakes (G2)
- Doctor Jeff – Highest speed fig in only winning start, winner at Saratoga, working bullets.
- Gunite – Increasing distance, speed figs, and results, high percentage jockey/trainer, coming off a layoff.
- Stolen base, Double Thunder, Midnight Worker – All three could be in the mix at money, all coming off wins, similar speed figs, high percentage trainers, good pedigree, working out well. Toss a few bucks away here?
Race 3: Beverly D Stakes (G1)
- Mean Mary – High speed figs, coming off 2 graded stakes wins, multiple graded stakes experience, winner of 2/3 at distance, trust Graham Motion.
- Santa Barbara – Shipper with a win last race on turf at Belmont, winner of 1/2 at distance, Lasix, and trusting Aiden O’Brien as well.
- Naval Laughter – High speed figs, working out well, high percentage jockey / trainer, winner of 2 of last 3, winner at Arlington, winner at distance.
Race 4: Fourstardave Handicap (G1)
- Raging Bull – Good speed, strong workouts, high percentage jockey/trainer, will be 3rd 4starDave, lots of experience at distance, coming of second place finish.
- Set Piece – Coming off 3 wins, shortening distance, high percentage trainer, wins at distance, working bullets, good speed, denies Raging Bull win in 3rd start?
- Blowout – First or second in last 6 races, lots of experience at 1m distance, high percentage jockey/trainer, first or second in all 7 starts at distance, might be a step slower than Raging Bull and Set Piece.
- Just Missed – Casa Creed – Coming off 2 wins, winner at Saratoga, working bullets, has the speed to win, will the winning streak continue?
Race 5: Bruce D Stakes (G1)
- Tango Tango Tango – Turf stats look good, decent speed, high percentage trainer, coming off a win, working out well, moving up in class, dropping distance slightly.
- Point Me By – High speed figs, has a win in 2 starts, working well.
- Ginsburned – Coming off a win, Leparoux on the turf, moving up in class, speed shows more promise than others.
Race 6: Mr. D Stakes (G1)
- Domestic Spending – Highest speed fig, coming off 4 straight wins and 6 out of last 7, working out well, the one to beat?
- Bizzee Channel – Winner of last 2 at Arlington, winner at distance, high percentage jockey/trainer, working out well.
- Armory – Shippers are tough to figure out, but I never rule them out. Aiden O’Brien knows what he is doing, 4 1-0-2 at distance, winner of 5/15 starts, could be a factor.
Glad to be back handicapping, enjoy the weekend of racing!
