We are starting the fall segment of the Pick 6 Challenge which will run through the Breeders Cup the first week in November. It will be fun trying to decide on just 6 races that day. There is a scoring change for this segment. The highest amount of money won will be the primary decider of who wins the segment. Wins and fewest picks will be the tie breakers. This season it will really pay to hit it big with the long shots. I think this should be fun. Let’s get to it.

Race 1: Seagram Cup Stakes (G3)

• Mighty Heart – Increasing speed figs in all 4 races this year, high speed 100 in last race at distance, 4 2-1-1 at distance, winner of 2 of last 3, high percentage trainer, all weather experience, working out well.
• Special Forces – High speed figs, but not as good as Mighty Heart, 6 3-2-1 at distance, has hit the board in all 10 most recent starts including 8 at Woodbine, high percentage jockey, working bullets.
• Another Mystery – 2/2 at distance, won last race at lower class, working out well, high percentage jockey, will need a step up in speed from last start.

Race 2: Mint Ladies Sprint Stakes (G3)

• Venetian Harbor – Likes to go to the front, winner at distance, ran second last race, dropping in distance, high speed figs, working bullets.
• Superstition – High speed figs, coming off a win, moves up in class though, has some stakes experience, winner at distance, working out well.
• Jeanie B – Has gone to the front before, decent speed figs, ran second last race, and first before that, working bullets, can Jersey Joe win this?

Race 3: Ladies Turf Sprint (G3)

• Princess Grace – High recent speed figs, winner of 5/6 lifetime and 2/2 at distance, working bullets, will be heavily bet.
• Shifty She – Good speed recently, winner of 5/8 lifetime and 4/7 at distance, winner of 2 of last 3, goes to the front, lost last race, moving up in class.
• Summer in Saratoga – Winner of 3 of last 4, winner of 2/5 at distance, good speed, working out well, high percentage trainer, moving up in class though.
• Just Missed – Dalika – Has the speed it seems like, dropping in distance, high percentage jockey, stakes experience, but results have been lacking. Shorter distance might put the win within reach.

Race 4: Turf Sprint Stakes (G3)

• Casa Creed – Has slightly better beyers than Got Stormy, winner of 2 of last 3, high percentage trainer, working out well, winner at distance, lots of stakes experience.
• Got Stormy – Got the best of Casa Creed in the 4 Star Dave, high speed figs, winner last race, winner at Kentucky Downs.
• Imprimis – High speed figs, winner at distance, winner at Kentucky Downs, graded stakes experience, working bullets.

Race 5: Calumet Turf Cup Sprint (G2)

• Arklow – Results haven’t been there recently, but this horse looks like the best in the field, plenty of experience at distance, winner of 2/3 at Kentucky Downs, high percentage trainer, working out well, hasn’t won since May.
• Channel Cat – I keep thinking this horse is washed up, but still posting 100 Beyers, plenty of experience at distance, and a win at Kentucky Downs.
• Zulu Alpha – Experience at distance, plenty of stakes experience, and has raced these horses before, win at Kentucky Downs, hitting 100 Beyers, Santana just came off a good Saratoga meet.

Race 6: Franklin-Simpson Stakes (G2)

• Point Me By – Winner of 2/3 lifetime, winner last race, working out well, top Saratoga jockey.
• Next – Has won at distance, stakes experience, dropping distance, winner at distance and track, high percentage trainer.
• Annex – Dropping distance, ran second last race, high percentage trainer, working out well, stakes experience.
• Just Missed – Into the Sunrise – High percentage trainer, experience at distance, 2 wins in last 3 starts, rail post doing well, working bullets.

Should be an interesting day of racing, large fields. See if you can beat my picks.
