Light Stakes Races Week 6, October 16 2021

Abraham

The number of stakes races is winding down as we approach the Breeders Cup in just a few weeks. Cornelio found a few stakes races at Arapahoe Park for us to take a look at, along with some graded stakes from Belmont and Keeneland. Maybe these races will provide an adequate challenge for the week.

Race 1: Sands Point Stakes (G2)

  • Higher Truth – Finished on the board in each of last 5 races, high speed figs, high percentage trainer, wins at Belmont, working out well, has beaten Harajuku, dropping distance.
  • Harajuku – Graded stakes winner, shipper, dropping distance.
  • Fluffy Socks – High speed figs, winner last year but results lacking so far this year, high percentage Jockey/Trainer, working out well.
  • Just Missed – Jordan’s Leo – Finished on the board in 5/6, high percentage trainer, winner at distance, working well, lacking stakes experience.

Race 2: Gold Rush Futurity

  • Bayron – Winner in only start, sired by Bayern.
  • Brazen Now – Winner in only 2 starts.
  • Yukio – Winner in last 2 out of 4 starts.

Race 3: Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup (G1)

  • Shantisara – Winner at distance, winner of last 2, high speed figs, high percentage jockey, dropping in distance.
  • Technical Analysis – Winner of last 2 and 4 of last 5, high speed figs, working well.
  • Empress Josephine – High speed fig last race, shipper with stakes experience.

Race 4: Butch Gleason Classic Stakes

  • Collusionist – Winner of last 3, high percentage trainer/jockey, high speed figs, winner of 12/15 at Arapahoe, working bullets.
  • Guided Missile – Returning to dirt, dropping back down in class, high speed figs.
  • Emperor’s Choice – Winner of last 2, winner of 3/6 at Arapahoe, high percentage trainer, moving up in class.
  • Just Missed – Net Gain – Poor speed figs in recent starts, experience at distance, new trainer, had success in the past.

Race 5: Keeneland Allowance

  • Ducale – Hard to ignore 103 speed fig, finished in the money all 3 starts, high percentage trainer and jockey.
  • Winter Pool – Winner 2 of last 4, second in other 2, high speed figs, winner at distance
  • Malibu Star – High speed figs, winner at distance, high percentage jockey, working bullets.
  • Just Missed – Mr. Tip – winner at distance, returns to dirt, winner at distance, high percentage jockey, beat Winter Pool 3 races ago, dropping class.

Race 6: California Distaff Handicap

  • Warren’s Showtime – High speed figs, great lifetime results, working out well.
  • Pulpit Rider – Winner last race, experience at distance, good speed figs, has raced against field with good results, only 2 wins in 15 starts at Santa Anita.
  • Sedamar – High speed figs, results are lacking, graded stakes experience, 1 win in 11 starts at Santa Anita, moving up in class, can Joe Bravo pick em?

There you have it, sorry to not have some past performances for some of these races, tricky with few stakes races. Maybe I should add more undercards from Keeneland, and Belmont? We will see next week.

Think you can pick better than Cornelio? Then try and beat me at the Pick 6 Challenge.
