Four Graded Stakes and Four Different Tracks Highlight Week 7, October 23 2021.

Blue Devil

The pickings are getting slimmer as we get closer to the Breeder’s Cup race weekend. We are going to 4 tracks this weekend. An early date at Woodbine for the Hendrie Stakes, and then follow on to Keeneland, Belmont, and finally wrap up at Santa Anita. Some big fields out there to mix things up, let’s hope for some long odd upsets and shake up the standings!

Race 1: Hendrie Stakes (G3)

  • Our Secret Agent – Lots of experience at Woodbine, winner at Woodbine, graded stakes experience, high percentage jockey / trainer, working bullets, has beaten Amalfi Coast in last 2 matchups.
  • Amalfi Coast – Winner in last race, winner at Woodbine, winner at distance, high speed figs, good jockey / trainer win percentage.
  • Betwixting – Winner of 5 before 4th in last race, moving up in class, high percentage jockey / trainer, experience at distance, experience on All Weather and Woodbine track.

Race 2: Perryville Stakes

  • Soup and Sandwich – Hard to leave out Kentucky Derby runner who had pulled up with an injury, dropping in class today, high percentage jockey, dropping distance, high speed figs, working well.
  • Pickin’ Time – Second to Jackie’s Warrior in the Gallant Bob, plenty of stakes experience, dropping in class, working out well.
  • Pipeline – Winner last race, winner at distance, high percentage trainer, working out well, moving up in class.
  • Just Missed – Cool Quest – Gave the edge to Pipeline because I like Johnny V on the dirt rather than Leparoux, Cool Quest has good speed, moving up in distance and class, working bullets though!

Race 3: Noble Damsel Stakes (G3)

  • Tamahere – Coming off a lower class win, high speed figs, winner at distance, winner at Belmont, high percentage jockey / trainer, graded stakes experienced horse.
  • High Opinion – Second in Balston Spa, but lacks more graded stakes experience, experience at distance and a win at Belmont, working bullets, high percentage jockey / trainer.
  • Shifty She – 4th to some good horses in Ladies Turf last time out, has won half of starts at distance, working bullets, could be a first or fourth pick.

Race 4: Hill Prince Stakes (G2)

  • Soldier Rising – Hasn’t finished worse than second lifetime, high speed figs, graded stakes experience, high percentage jockey / trainer, working bullets.
  • Public Sector – Bested Original, coming off 2 wins, and wins in 3 of last 4, graded stakes winner, high percentage trainer, increasing distance.
  • Never Surprised – Sticking with the outside here, winner of 2 of last 4, 4 2-2-0 lifetime, 2nd in last 2 graded stakes starts, high percentage trainer, working bullets.
  • Watch for Shifting Sands – Winner of 3 of last 4, rising speed figs, high percentage trainer, one of three Brown horses entered.

Race 5: Raven Run Stakes (G2)

  • Obligatory – Graded stakes winner, coming off a second place finish, high speed figs, dropping distance, working bullets.
  • Cilla – Winner last 3 and 4 of last 5, bested Souper Sandwich in Prioress, high speed figs, high percentage jockey, working out well, no way she stays 8-1.
  • Souper Sensational – Two seconds and a first in last 3 starts, graded stakes experience, winner at distance, will be a contender.
  • Try and figure out how to get Caramel Swirl into your picks, she is a winner at distance, a winner at Keeneland, and working bullets.

Race 6: Lure Stakes

  • Neptune’s Storm – Graded Stakes winner dropping in class, winner at Santa Anita, winner at distance, high percentage jockey, dropping back to 1m distance, working out well.
  • Majestic Eagle – Graded Stakes experience, but few wins, good pedigree, high percentage jockey, high speed figs, distance and track experience.
  • Order and Law – Lots of experience and distance and at Santa Anita, dropping in class, high percentage trainer.
  • Hard to separate any of the runners behind Neptune’s Storm, very similar.

Well, maybe I should have grabbed a Maryland race or two in here, but I didn’t so this is what we have. Looking forward to the Breeder’s Cup soon.

Think you can pick better, than give it a shot.
