Another week of multi-track racing action. This week we go to Oaklawn, Gulfstream, Aqueduct, and Santa Anita Park. We’ve got six stakes races on the calendar, two of them Grade 3 (Whitmore and Essex). Let’s have a look at the fields.

Race 1: Whitmore Stakes (G3)

• Greeley and Ben – Has made a career at 6f, 30 19-5-1, almost winning 2/3rd races entered, 18 13-3-1 record at distance, winner of last 3 and 8 of last 9, good speed figs, moves up in class.
• Bob’s Edge – Winner last race, winner at distance and at Oaklawn, high speed figs, working bullets.
• Tulane Tryst – Winner of last 2 at distance, keeps jockey, winner of 4 3-1-0 at distance, weakened at 7f, looks good at 6, working bullets, hoping for good price.

Race 2: The Silks Run Stakes

• Arrest Me Red – Winner of last 3, all longer than 5f, goes tot he front, winner of 5/7 lifetime, 2/2 at distance, 5/6 on turf, working bullets, high percentage jockey/trainer.
• Cool Quest – High speed figs, has experience getting tired at distances greater than 5f, dropping distance, goes to the front.
• Yes I Am Free – Winner last race in G3, experience winning at distance and at Oaklawn, winning jockey has experience on this horse.

Race 3: Cicada Stakes

• Lady Monshun – Perfect trip in maiden win at distance, high percentage jockey/trainer, working out well, no history here though, risky.
• Rosebug – Follow me here, Sweet Solare won last race but was beaten by Exxaltress 2 races ago, Exxaltress won last race over Sweet Solare, but was beaten by Rosebug 2 races ago. Rosebug therefore will beat Exxaltress and Sweet Solare. No further questions, the logic is sound. Dropping to sprint distance, may improve.
• Exxaltress – There are a lot of other horses with potential here, but I’ll take the Chad Brown trained, increasing speed figs, winner at distance, goes to the front, working out well horse.
• Just Missed – Lady Milagro – was last race a fluke? Lady Scarlet – Only 1 good race at distance, the rest are defeats at 5.5f.

Race 4: The Hutcherson Stakes

• Nitrous Channel – Can’t ignore, killed it in maiden win, highest speed fig, high percentage jockey/trainer, winner at distance and track.
• Provocateur – Winner at distance, returning to 6f, high percentage jockey/trainer, working out well.
• American Sanctuary – Dropping significantly in class, but is betting a G1 loser in a Stakes race a good bet? High percentage jockey, returns to shorter distance, working bullets.

Race 5: Essex Handicap (G3)

• Plainsman – Winner last race, 12 5-1-2 at distance, high speed figs, high percentage jockey/trainer, winner against others in race, working out well.
• Thomas Shelby – Ran second to Plainsman last race, 5 3-2-0 at distance, high percentage trainer, good speed figs, experience at track.
• Warrior’s Charge – Winner last race, high percentage jockey/trainer, high speed figs, moving up in class, has lost to Thomas Shelby more than once.

Race 6: Irish O’Brien Stakes

• Becca Taylor – Undefeated, improving speed figs, high percentage jockey/trainer, winner at track.
• Sensible Cat – Winner last race at distance at Santa Anita, high percentage jockey/trainer, good speed figs, looks to be liking the shorter distance last 2 starts.
• Eddie’s New Dream – Up and down on turf and dirt, seems OK with Santa Anita track, consistent speed figs, highest last race, needs to close.
