Its the unofficial last weekend of summer, but the racing is still going strong at Del Mar. We’ve got 3 Del Mar races this weekend ending with the Del Mar Handicap. Two races from Saratoga’s closing weekend, and one from Kentucky Downs fill out the program. Lets have a look at these good sized fields.

Race 1: Flower Bowl Stakes (G2)

• War Like Goddess – Hard not to go with winner of 6 of last 7, winner 3/4 at distance and 3/3 at Saratoga. High percentage jockey, high speed figs, consistent.
• Virginia Joy – Also winner of 3/4 at distance, speed figs show in the 90’s, dropping distance, high percentage jockey / trainer.
• Temple City Terror – Inconsistent with results, and not sure she can top the other two, working out well, speeds get into the 90’s, seems better at 1 1/2 – longer distances.

Race 2: Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1)

• Olympiad – Winner of 5 in a row until 4th in the Whitney, high speed figs, winner at Saratoga, working out well.
• Dynamic One – Winner of last 2 races, winner at Saratoga and at distance, high percentage jockey / trainer, highest speed figure last race, working out well,
• American Revolution – Beaten by Olympiad and Dynamic One, but this horse won the Cigar Mile, NY Derby, and Albany stakes, working out well, high percentage jockey / trainer.

Race 3: Mint Million Stakes (G3)

• Atoned – Consistent high speed figs, high percentage jockey / trainer, hasn’t won in a year though, winner of 3/7 at distance.
• Grays Fable – Winner last race, winner of 5/10 at distance, high speed figs, beat Mr Dumas twice, has put in the times at this distance to win the race in the past.
• Mr Dumas – Competitive speeds last 3 1 mile races, consistent 90 ‘s speed figs, winner of 2/7 at distance, moving up in class.
• Pixelate – Winner of Mint Million last year, but done nothing since, beaten favorite, winner at track and at distance, working out well, much better jockey, but too low odds, better options?

Race 4: Del Mar Mile Stakes (G2)

• Hong Kong Harry – High speed figs, winner at distance, winner of 3 of last 4, dropping in distance, winner against others in this field.
• Cathkin Peak – Finished in the money last 4 races, graded stakes experience, high speed figs, winner at distance, winner and experienced at track, high percentage jockey / combo.
• Goliad – Moving up in class but high speed figs, winner at distance, winner at track, winner last race.
• Watch for None Above the Law – winner Del Mar Derby, Tripoli – winner Pacific Classic, Astronaut – winner Del Mar Handicap

Race 5: Pacific Classic Stakes (G1)

• Flightline – Highest speed figures, winner of all 4 lifetime starts, working out well, hasn’t gone near this distance before.
• Country Grammer – first or second in last 5 races, high speed figs, winner of 2/3 at distance, working out well, high percentage jockey /trainer.
• Express Train – Winner of 3 of last 4, winner of 3/5 at Del Mar, winner at distance, good speed figs, workouts OK, hasn’t raced since April, lots of graded stakes experience.

Race 6: Del Mar Handicap (G2)

• Tizamagician – Good speed figs, dropping distance, first or second in 6 of last 7, high percentage jockey, working out well.
• Heywoods Beach – Seems to do best running at 1 1/2, high speed figs, winner last race, winner at Del Mar.
• Master Piece – Winner last race, winner at Del Mar, experience at distance and graded stakes races.
